Behind the Scenes: Life as a Home-Based Travel Advisor

From the outside, being a travel advisor might look like sunshine, sand, and sipping cocktails in five-star resorts. And yes—those moments do happen. But behind the destination photos and dreamy itineraries is a very real, very busy woman building a business while balancing everything life throws her
way.

I’m not just a travel planner—I’m also a mom, a caregiver, a wife, a daughter, and a full-time CEO of my home. Here’s what life really looks like behind the scenes of a home-based travel advisor.

👩‍👧‍👦 Motherhood Meets Marketing

My mornings start before the sun. I’m making breakfast, waking sleepy teens, tying shoelaces, and making sure everyone’s out the door on time. With younger ones still at home, homeschooling, playtime, and midday naps are part of our rhythm. Naptime is hustle time—that’s when I’m answering client emails, building itineraries, or hopping on Zoom consultations.

Being home-based means I don’t miss the little things:
✅ Attending school lunch with my older kids
✅ Volunteering

✅ Taking my toddler to the doctor without stressing about PTO
✅ Showing up for school events and moments that matter

This freedom isn’t just a luxury—it’s the foundation of why I chose this path.

👵🏽 Caring for My Parents While Building a Legacy

Alongside my role as a mom, I also care for my aging parents. Running my business from home gives me the flexibility to take them to appointments, manage their care, and just be there—something I never take for granted.

Every trip I plan, every vacation I book for a client, isn’t just income—it’s impact. It’s giving someone else a chance to make memories with their family while I stay present with mine.

💼 What "Work" Really Looks Like

Work for me doesn't mean clocking in at 9 and leaving at 5. It means:

  • Drafting client quotes between snack breaks

  • Booking flights while bouncing a baby on my lap

  • Prepping a cruise group launch while meal prepping for the week

  • Responding to messages from my phone while waiting outside school pickup

My office shifts with the day. Sometimes it’s the dining room table, other times it’s a quiet moment while the baby naps. It’s flexible, sometimes chaotic, but always purposeful.

Why I Chose This Life

I started this business not just to make money, but to make memories. I wanted a life where I didn’t have to choose between providing for my family and being with my family. Now, I help other families do the same—through travel planning, and for those who join my team, through entrepreneurship.

Whether I’m planning a honeymoon to the Maldives or helping a mom of three book a much-needed getaway, I’m reminded every day that this business is a blessing. It’s flexibility, fulfillment, and freedom—all in one.
